When wealth and power transfer into darkness

The plans to see Seymore had fallen through completely. After my fight with Pamela, I had been confined to my bedroom by Lake, who was keeping Pamela confined to the bedroom on the other side of the living area. I mean, I wasn’t a prisoner. I could easily walk out and deal with the confrontation of defying Lake, who was following orders from my husband, whom I had yet to see since my Tyson tussle with Pamela. I had come to discover, after the adrenaline calmed down, that Pamela had bruised my right cheek and busted my upper lip.

I sat on the bed as Mario pried to keep my attention on him, yet I could not keep my mind from wandering to what would transpire in the next coming hours. That’s when I noticed voices from the living room. I knew that Lake had taken to sitting in the living area with Sue to ensure a buffer zone between Pamela and I, but now there was another voice. I zeroed in closely to recognize Tony. I was just about to tune out, until I noticed there was a sense of urgency in the way that Tony was speaking. I walked toward the door with Mario trailing me, sure that his tone was on the borderline of panic.

Just as I began to turn the handle of my bedroom door, I heard shots being fired and my heart stopped. I instinctively drew Mario up close to…
