When wealth and power transfer into darkness

I leaped toward the street, as police cars began blocking off the streets surrounding the hotel. As I had landed in the grass, my right ankle twisted, sending a severe level of pain surging through my leg. I half suspected I had cracked it, but had no luxury of surveying the damage. When I reached the street where most of the police activity was, I attempted to walk as normal as possible, blending in as a random spectator who happened to be passing by rather than a guest. I watched as firemen pulled up into the u-shaped hilly driveway of the hotel and poured out with their gear already tacked on.

A woman police walked by us spectators and began taping the area off with yellow caution tape and I took that as my cue to go to the rendezvous point where I was to meet Tony and drive to the motel where Leo would be with the women and my son. As I hobbled off down a darkened street, mostly deserted due to the bubbling activity at the hotel, hope began to well up in my chest that we could all very possibly make it out of this alive.

Just as I reached an alleyway that I intended to take to my meeting point with Tony, I was met with a gun in my face.
