When wealth and power transfer into darkness

“Seriously? We’re in a hotel with cameras and security everywhere. I think I can walk within the hotel and be safe.” I hoisted Mario on my hip, attempting to stay level-headed at Lake’s insistence on following me.

My intention was to locate Seymore and see if I can make sense out of my feelings. If anyone could reassure me, it was him but none of that could happen with this six five bulldozer tagging along.

Lake was standing his ground. “Ordinarily, this would be true but we’re not dealing with normal circumstances. Because of this, I’ll be your shadow. I promise you won’t even be able to tell I’m there.”

“Says the big ass orange and green dotted rhinoceros in the room.” I gritted my teeth and put Mario down on the floor so that he could stretch his legs and walk.

We stepped into the elevator together, the multicolored mammal, my son, and I, and took a ride to the lobby floor. Now, I had told Lake that Mario and I just wanted to walk around and see the scenery and perhaps go to their infamous bush garden maze, but what I was truly hoping for was to bump into Seymore. With everything that was happening, he thought it still too risky to talk on the phone but left promising to keep an eye out for me and Mario throughout…
